Sioux City Musketeers News Release
The Fargo Force travel to the Tyson Events Center this weekend for the 5th matchup of 9 this season. The Musketeers lost both home games back in December with a 3-2 loss and a 4-3 overtime loss, but the Musketeers are looking to add more points after picking up 3 out of 4 possible points this past weekend with a 4-3 shootout victory and a 3-2 overtime loss with the Force. The Musketeers are 1-1-2 this year against the Force meaning the series has been close the whole way through and if the trend continues this game will be another close one. The Musketeers are 7-3-3 when they score first, and 3-10-2 when they are scored on first, showing that Sioux City will have to come out fast as they have only scored first in 1 matchup against the Force this year. When coming into Sioux City the games between these two teams have already stacked up 31 power plays and only 4 have been successful with 2 by Fargo and 2 by the Musketeers. The Musketeers are 1-4 in their last 5 home games and look to turn things around. Sioux City's powerplay has struggled throughout the year but is 23.8% at home compared to 13.2% on the road giving them an overall 19.8% powerplay, and the slight advantage.
Sioux City has had a good stretch as of lately with Sam Stange leading the charge with his 20 points in the last 14 games. Stange has also moved himself into the top 5 goal scorers in the league with his 17 on the year so far. Ethan Harrison is the only Musketeer with 2 goals against the Force this year as the scoring is pretty spread out among the team showing that the Force cannot focus on just one member of the Musketeers.
The Musketeers are 2 games away from the halfway point through the season sitting at 7th in the Western Conference with a 10-13-5-1 record with 26 points only 3 points out of 6th place and the last spot in the Clark Cup Playoffs. The playoff race looks to be very close as the downhill stretch approaches as only 9 points separates 2nd place from 8th place in the Western Conference.
The Musketeers return to the road with a trip north to take on the Sioux Falls Stampede on Friday, January 17th and Saturday, January 18th at 7:05 P.M. for the 3rd and 4th matchups of the I-29 rivalry this season.
