Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release
Lakewood (NJ) This summer, one of the five Lakewood BlueClaws' bobblehead giveaways won't feature a homerun hitter, speedy base stealer or even one of the BlueClaws' premier pitchers. The face of one lucky fan will be on 2,000 bobbleheads when the BlueClaws face the Augusta Greenjackets, on August 2.
The contest will take place on the BlueClaws Opening Day, April 12. Fans can enter by stopping by the NJR Information Booth before or during the game. The winner will be selected during the seventh inning of that night's game and must be present to win. In addition to the bobblehead, the winner will receive ten tickets to the BlueClaws game when their bobblehead is given out on August 2.
"Our winner will have a lot more than 15 minutes of fame." Lakewood BlueClaws general manager Geoff Brown said. "Bobbleheads are a tremendously popular promotional item, so our lucky fan will see their face all over the area. It's a great way to honor all of our fans."
August 2 will be the last of five bobbleheads for the 2004 season. Other bobblehead nights will be Friday April 16, for Phillies top prospect, pitcher Cole Hamels; Thursday May 27, first baseman Ryan Howard; Sunday June 13, former BlueClaws pitcher, Gavin Floyd wearing a special US Flag Jersey and Monday July 5, BlueClaws on field entertainer, Eric Finkel.
Individual ticket sales begin Saturday, February 21, at FirstEnergy Park. Ticket windows will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The day will include tours of FirstEnergy Park, free food and drink and fans will be invited to take a few cuts inside the BlueClaws' batting cages. In addition, fans that purchase tickets will be entered to win a limo ride to Philadelphia with four Phillies tickets, to see the second game ever at Citizen's Bank Park. The winner will be drawn that day.
The BlueClaws begin their fourth season April 8, at Kannapolis, and play their home opener April 12, against the Charleston (WV) Alley Cats at 6:35 p.m. The BlueClaws are the fastest professional baseball team in New Jersey and South Atlantic League history to draw one MILLION people. For ticket information call 732-901-7000, Option 2 or more information or visit the team's official website, www.lakewoodblueclaws.com.
