Myrtle Beach Pelicans News Release

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Remaining at the forefront of their industry, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans are below the Minor League Baseball average for the price of a family of four to take in a game at BB&T Coastal Field. A survey of Pelicans prices for the 2011 season found that the average cost for such a family is $54.00 to attend a Pelicans game, nearly six dollars below the average price in Minor League Baseball.

The Pelicans' survey is based on the cost of four tickets in the Budweiser Thirst Inning Deck, four hot dogs, two sodas, two beers, a program, and parking. The Office of Minor League Baseball conducted a similar survey of all 160 MiLB teams this season and found that the average price for clubs around the nation and in Canada, while still extremely affordable for families for a night out, went up from $57.70 last season to $59.77 this year. The Pelicans breakdown is as follows:

- Tickets: 4 x $7.00 = $28.00 - Hot dogs: 4 x $2.75 = $11.00 - Soda: 2 x $2.50 = $5.00 - Beer: 2 x $5.00 - $10.00 - Parking: FREE - Program: FREE - Total: $54.00

This season's price comparison reinforces the Pelicans' claim to be the most affordable, fan-friendly option for entertainment on the Grand Strand. Fans should note that the price of tickets in the Budweiser Thirst Inning Deck will increase by one dollar for games played in June through August, before moving back down to seven dollars in September. Even at $58.00, not only is the average price for a family of four to attend a Pelicans less than the MiLB-wide average, it's also lower than the average price for Class A ballclubs ($59.66).

The Pelicans' average game cost does not even include great promotional deals at BB&T Coastal Field such as Kids Eat Free Mondays and Weiner Wednesdays. For every Monday home game, starting April 18th vs. Winston-Salem, all kids ages 12 and under will receive a voucher upon entering the gate for a free hot dog, chips and a small soda. April 20th marks the first Weiner Wednesday at BB&T Coastal Field, featuring one dollar Hebrew National hot dogs all game long!

Upon their return from a weekend series in Lynchburg, the Pelicans will begin a three-game homestand against the Winston-Salem Dash beginning on Monday, April 18th. After home games on Tuesday and Wednesday, the Birds head to Kinston for three games next weekend before coming back for a full week of games at BB&T Coastal Field from Monday, April 25th to Sunday, May 1.
