Cleveland Force News Release


Cleveland forward Chris Stathopoulos and defender Kiley Couch became the fifth and sixth Force players to achieve a milestone this season. Stathopoulos reached 300 career points and Couch achieved 200 career blocks.

Stathopoulos, who now has 302 career points, reached his 300th career point on his second goal on February 5th against the Milwaukee Wave.

Couch got to the 200th block on his only block of the game on February 8th against the Baltimore Blast.

Couch and Chris Stathopoulos join Lee Edgerton (200th career points), Jim Larkin (1,000th career save), Hector Marinaro (1,200th career goal) and Giuliano Oliviero (200th career assist and 700th career point) as the Force players to achieve milestones this season.

FORWARD READY TO MAKE RETURN:

Forward Steve Butcher who has been out of action for the past six weeks with a hand injury is scheduled to return to the active roster this week. Butcher, who tore ligaments in his right hand, has not played since the December 28th game.

Before the injury, Butcher appeared in 13 games and notched five goals and two assists for a total of 20 points.

BACK ON THE BLOCK:

The Cleveland Force will return to WUAB TV-43 The Block once again this weekend when the team travels to Dallas, Texas to face the Dallas Sidekicks in the final trip of the season to the Lone Star State.

Catch Al Pawlowski as he calls all the action from Reunion Arena on Sunday, February 16th. The game is scheduled to start at 7:05 p.m.

HOW THE WEST WAS WON:

The Cleveland Force will take on two Western Conference opponents this weekend before returning to Eastern Conference action next week. Cleveland has a 7-7 record vs. Western Conference opponents this season.

On Saturday night, the Force will play its fifth and final regular season game with the San Diego Sockers at the Convocation Center at CSU. Cleveland holds a4-0 advantage over the Sockers in the season series. The Force has outscored San Diego 56-34 in the previous meetings. Cleveland won the last meeting on January 31st by a final score of 15-10 at the Convo.

On Sunday, the Force will travel to the Lone Star State for the final time this season when they will take on the Dallas Sidekicks in the third of four meetings. Cleveland and Dallas have each won a game on its home field to even the season series at 1-1. The Sidekicks hold a slight margin in the scoring as Dallas has outscored the Force 21-20 in the two games. Cleveland won the last meeting 16-8 on January 3rd at the Convocation Center at CSU.

POST-GAME HEADQUARTERS:

The Cleveland Hilton Garden Inn is the official post game party headquarters of the Cleveland Force. After every home game, Force players will be in attendance to talk with fans as well as sign autographs. The Hilton Garden Inn is located at 1100 Carnegie Avenue between the Convocation Center at CSU and Jacobs Field. The Force players will arrive 30-45 minutes after the conclusion of the game.

TELEVISION HEADQUARTERS:

Shula's Steak 2, which is located in the Hilton South. Just off Route 480 and 77 on Rockside Road, is the official headquarters of all Force television games.

Fans will be able to join Force non-traveling players and staff at Shula's Steak 2 to watch the games on the Big Screen as well as several other televisions located in the restaurant. Drink and appetizer specials will be available during the game.
