Falcons Game Notes

IN JUST A FEW HOURS...

The Springfield Falcons battle for their fourth-straight win to begin the season when they host the Providence Bruins at 7:00 p.m. at the MassMutual Center. The Falcons captured their first-ever 3-0 start on Friday night when they defeated the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on home ice, 4-2. Cam Atkinson and Ryan Johansen scored late goals for the Falcons to seal the win, while Jonathan Audy-Marchessault registered a goal and two assists. With a victory tonight, the Falcons would secure their first four-game winning streak within one season since Dec. 23 to 30, 2006. Springfield has won five-straight contests dating back to the end of last season, marking the club's longest winning streak since it earned a franchise-best nine-consecutive victories from Mar. 6 to 28 of 1998.

HOME DOMINANCE CONTINUES

Dating back to the end of the 2011-2012 campaign, Springfield has won eight-straight games at The Nest. This ties the club's record for consecutive home victories, accomplished from Feb. 8 to Mar. 9 of 1995 during its first season of play. The Falcons have taken points in each of their last 12 home games (11-0-0-1) and have not lost in regulation at the MassMutual Center since Feb. 19, 2012 when they fell to the Worcester Sharks, 2-1. The AHL record for the longest home point streak is 25 games, set by the Hershey Bears in 2009-2010 (24-0-0-1). The Falcons are tied with the Bears for the longest home undefeated streak in AHL history. Springfield went 18-0-6 at The Nest from Feb. 8 to Nov. 14 of 1997.

"JAM" OFF TO HOT START

Jonathan Audy-Marchessault record a 2012-2013 Falcon-high three points on Friday in the victory. The second-year pro has points in all three games and is second in the AHL with six points and four assists to last season's league MVP, Cory Conacher of the Syracuse Crunch.
