Falcons Add Veteran Defenseman

November 19, 2012 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Port Huron Fighting Falcons News Release

The Port Huron Fighting Falcons, proud members of the North American Hockey League have traded forward Nico Sierra to the Jamestown Ironmen for defenseman Payden Mielke and a 2012-2013 tender.

Mielke, a Loveland, Co native has played in 16 games with the Ironmen this season recording a goal and two assists. Jamestown acquired Mielke this past summer from the Corpus Christi IceRays where he played in 55 games and recorded 1 goal and 11 assists.

Head Coach and General Manager Michael Gershon, on trading Nico Sierra, " Its always tough to move a three year veteran such as Nico Sierra, but he felt like he needed a new challenge in his junior career and we were happy to find him a good spot in a good organization as well as getting in return pieces that we feel will help us this year and in the future."

Gershon on adding veteran defenseman, "With us only having two returning defenseman we felt we needed to add a veteran to help our young core that has done a very good job so far. With our division being as tight as it is having a solid defense core to add to a deep forward and goaltending group just makes us that much harder to play against.

The Fighting Falcons are home this Sunday, November 25th at 2 PM as the Janesville Jets come to town. Sunday is Family 4 Pack Night, as you can receive 4 tickets, 4 hotdogs and 4 sodas for $30. Also the first 500 people in the door will receive a team photo sponsored by Precision Printing and don't forgot to bring your skates as we will be having our first skate with the players following the game.
