Springfield Falcons News Release
Springfield, MA â The Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League today announced that Melissa Gardner has joined the team's front office staff as Manager of Promotions and Game Night Operations. In addition, the Falcons announced that Bob Oliver, who previously held the title of Assistant General Manager, has been named the club's Vice President of Business Operations.
Gardner comes to the Falcons after holding the position of Assistant Director of Marketing in the sports department at Arkansas State University during the past year. Gardner planned and implemented marketing plans, promotional calendars and game-night operations for the college's football, baseball, and men's and women's basketball teams. Prior to her time at A.S.U., Gardner spent three years as an employee of the Elmira Jackals of the United Hockey League and the team's home arena, the Coach USA Center. She held the title of Marketing Manager during her final two years with the organizations. Gardner oversaw the Jackals' game-night operations and promotions among many other responsibilities with the club.
"Melissa will be a nice addition to our staff," said Falcons President and General Manager Bruce Landon. "She has experience in promotions and game-night operations and will work closely with our Director of Marketing Carole Appleton. As we move forward toward a state-of-the-art facility, it's important that we have the right people in place to make the game-night experience as enjoyable as possible for the fans."
"I'm very excited to return to the Northeast and to become a part of the Falcons and the American Hockey League," said Gardner.
Oliver is entering his 11th year with the Falcons. The West Springfield native held the position of Business Manager for six years before working as the club's Assistant General Manager for the last four.
"Bob has been with us since 1994 and is very involved with the day-to-day business operations of the company. The change of his title to Vice President of Business Operations reflects his evolving and important role in the organization," said Landon.
Season ticket packages for the Falcons' 2004-05 campaign are currently on sale. To order or for more information, please contact the Falcons' team office at (413) 739-3344.
