Bloomington Extreme News Release

Bloomington Extreme quarterback Dusty Burk has been selected by the United Indoor Football League as its Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in Friday's 54-47 overtime Eastern Conference victory over Rock River at the Rockford MetroCentre, it was announced by the league office Wednesday.

Burk led the Extreme with 274 yards in total offense and had a hand in all seven of the team's touchdowns. He completed 20 of 31 passes for 215 yards and four touchdowns, while rushing for 59 yards on 10 carries and three touchdowns.

His 2-yard touchdown run in overtime gave the Extreme its franchise-record fifth straight victory and an Eastern Conference-leading 5-3 record. The Extreme shoots for victory No. 6 at 7:05 p.m. Saturday when it meets the Evansville BlueCats at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.

Burk's selection as Player of the Week marks the fourth time an Extreme player has been honored this season. Terrill Mayberry has been a Defensive Player of the Week, while James Walton has been honored on offense and Peter Christofilakos on special teams.

Christofilakos and teammate James Temple received honorable mention notice this week by the UIF for Defensive Player of the Week and Special Teams Player of the Week, respectively.

Temple, making his first appearance for the Extreme at defensive back, intercepted two passes and had two tackles. Temple's second interception came on Rock River's first possession in overtime and ended the game.

Christofilakos converted six of seven extra-point kicks and had field goals of 26 and 33 yards. The 33-yard field goal came on the final play of regulation to tie the game and send it into overtime.

Eugene Phillips of Billings was the UIF's Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. He had four solo tackles, one assist, three tackles for loss, two quarterback sacks and one quarterback hurry.

Zac Gradoville of Sioux City earned Special Team honors by converting four of five field goal attempts and three extra point kicks. Gradoville's field goals of 31, 23 and 37 yards came on consecutive drives spanning the second and third quarters.

In other Extreme news, head coach Ted Schmitz announced the signing of defensive back Carlos Lattimore of the University of Illinois. The 6-foot-1, 220-pound Lattimore played previously in indoor football for Peoria and Danville.
