Bloomington Extreme News Release
Bloomington, IL - The Bloomington Extreme of United Indoor Football (UIF), which had a record five-game winning streak snapped last week, look to get back on track Saturday when they travel to famed Rupp Arena in Lexington, Ky., for an Eastern Conference showdown with the Lexington Horsemen in UIF action at 7:30 p.m.
The Extreme, which has a 5-4 record and is one-half game out of first place, rallied from a 12-point deficit in the final 61 seconds to defeat the Horsemen, 33-32, earlier this season at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.
The Extreme, which has a 1-2 all-time record against Lexington, will be making its first trip to Rupp Arena. The Horsemen have a 5-5 overall record and have lost three of their last four games, including two straight.
Bloomington wide receiver Reggie Gray and quarterback Dusty Burk set or tied team records in Saturday's 58-46 loss to Evansville before 5,611 people at U.S. Cellular Coliseum. It was the second-largest crowd to see a UIF game this season.
Gray, who was nominated by the Extreme coaching staff for UIF Offensive Player of the Week honors, equaled teammate James Walton's record of nine pass receptions in a game. Gray gained 104 yards and scored two touchdowns.
Burk completed a team-record 24 passes (on 37 attempts) for a team-record 261 yards and six touchdowns. It marked the second time this season and the third time in his career that Burk has thrown for a team record six touchdowns.
Defensive lineman Eric Johnson was nominated for Defensive Player of the Week honors. He had four solo tackles and two assists for five total tackles. He also had 1.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 quarterback sacks. Both accounted for losses of six yards.
Kicker Peter Christofilakos was the team's nomination for Special Teams Player of the Week. He was perfect on four extra point kicks and had field goals of 25 and 35 yards.
The Extreme drew in excess of 5,000 people for its fifth time in five games this season to push its overall attendance to 27,876 or an average of a league-leading 5,575. The Extreme is the only franchise in the 11-team league to draw in excess of 5,000 fans to all its games. Bloomington has drawn four of the top five crowds, and five of the top six, in the UIF this season.
The Extreme's next home game is June 16 when it entertains Rock River in a 7:05 p.m. contest. The famed Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders will perform at the game and sign autographs.
