Extreme Sign Quarterback/Wide Receiver to Bolster Offense

BLOOMINGTON (Ill.) - The Bloomington Extreme announces the signing of Quarterback/Wide Receiver Eric McCollom.

Eric McCollum, 6'0" 217 lbs. has seen success as quarterback for Newberry College in South Carolina, a member of the South Atlantic Conference. The quarterback recorded 1385 yards on 98 completions of 165 attempts with 13 touchdowns and 2 interceptions during the 2007 and 2008 seasons. He only played three games of the 2007 season due to a season-ending knee surgery.

McCollom transferred to Newberry College from the University of Iowa after the 2006 sseason, where he began his college football career. In 2003, he started as a true freshman wide receiver for the Hawkeyes before he was sidelined by injury. Playing as both quarterback and wide receiver, McCollom saw little action from 2003 to 2005, much due to injury, and did not play the 2006 season.

Born in Camden, South Carolina, McCollom, in his senior year of high school was named Mr. Football of South Carolina and State Offensive Player of the Year following the 2002 season. He passed for over 3,500 yards and set a single-season state record with 43 touchdown passes. The Bloomington Extreme will play seven home games at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum in 2010. The regular season kicks off March 6 at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum as the Extreme will host the expansion Richmond (VA.) Revolution. The 2010 Extreme finished with a 10-5 record, making their third straight playoff appearance in the franchises four year history. Season Tickets are on sale now, call 309.434.2658.
