Quarterback Dusty Burk, along with Eric Johnson and Peter Christofilakos, have been nominated by the Bloomington Extreme coaching staff for Player of the Week honors in the United Indoor Football League for offense, defense and special teams.
Burk, seeing his first action of the season after missing the first three weeks of the season with a knee injury, led the team to its first victory in four games. He completed 15 of 24 passes for 133 yards and three touchdowns.
He also rushed for 57 yards on eight carries and two touchdowns as the Extreme rallied for a 33-32 triumph over Lexington in an East Conference contest Saturday at U.S. Cellular Coliseum. Burk generated 199 yards in total offense.
Eric Johnson had three quarterback sacks from his defensive end position for 13 yards. He also had three solo tackles and five assists for 5.5 total tackle points. His third sack came on the last play of the game to seal the victory.
Christofilakos averaged 44.7 yards on six kickoffs of which only three were returned for 55 yards, an average of 18.3 yards. He also was successful on all three of his point-after-touchdown conversion kicks.
The Extreme returns to action Saturday with a 7 p.m. contest at West Conference rival Omaha. The Extreme doesn't return home until May 19 when it meets Ohio Valley at U.S. Cellular Coliseum at 7:05 p.m.
