Bloomington Extreme News Release
Days before the Extreme tryouts, the coaching staff continues to grow. Bloomington Extreme Head Coach Ted Schmitz announces today that Jered Hooker will be the Special Teams Coordinator as well as helping with the football operations.
Hooker has been coaching kickers and punters for eight summers with Ron Turner at University of Illinois. He also volunteered as Assistant Football Coach at McKendree College from 1996-2002 where he coordinated special teams for NAIA playoff teams and helped develop an All-American kicker and All-Conference punters.
Jered has been coaching football for over 15 years and "brings knowledge of the game that we need to be successful," said Schmitz. He served as the Assistant Coach at Millikin University, Defensive Coordinator at Monmouth College and Wide Receivers Coach at Illinois State University.
"With just three months before the start of our inaugural season, it is essential to have the right staff in place so we're prepared and organized for the season. Hooker will play a pivotal role in this operation to make sure our i's are dotted and our t's are crossed," said Schmitz.
Hooker brings another aspect to the field, a Doctorate degree in Philosophy from University of Illinois with a Major in the Administration of Physical Education and Athletics. He received his Bachelor's Degree at Illinois Wesleyan University where he played football for the late Don Larsen.
"I'm delighted to be involved with this professional organization, the veteran coaching staff and highly motivated players," shared Hooker. He will join the rest of the coaching staff at tryouts on December 17th from 8:00am-12:00pm at Illinois Wesleyan Shirk Center.
