
Extreme adds former Illini quarterback to its attack

Former University of Illinois quarterback Tim Brasic will bring his passing and running skills to the Bloomington Extreme indoor football team, coach Kenton Carr announced Friday.
Brasic, who was the starting quarterback for the Illini during the 2005 season and part of the 2006 campaign, will compete with veteran Extreme quarterback Dusty Burk, former Ohio Valley sign-caller Freddie Ray, and rookie Jim DuPage for playing time during the 2008 season.
Brasic and Burk rank among the top four in Illinois High School Association in several passing categories. The two combined to throw for 15,437 yards by completing 1,056 passes in 1,853 attempts during their high school careers at Riverside-Brookfield and Tuscola, respectively.
Brasic ranks second in IHSA history with 7,911 yards in 25 games by completing 564 of 956 passes. He also ranks first in yards per game average at 316.4 His number of completions ranks third and his attempts rank fourth.
The 6-foot-1, 210-pound Brasic passed for 300 or more yards 15 times during his high school career and threw for a state record 589 yards in one game. Brasic also showed his running ability in college by rushing for 420 yards during the 2005 season, the most by an Illini quarterback in a single year.
During his two-year career at Illinois , Brasic completed 241 passes on 403 attempts for 2,325 yards. He completed 206 of 337 attempts for 1,979 yards in 11 games in 2005.
Burk ranks fourth in IHSA history with 7,526 yards in 24 games by completing 492 of 897 passes. He also ranks second in yards per game average at 313.5 and threw for 300 or more yards on 13 occassions.
The Extreme opens its season with an exhibition game Feb. 29 at 7:05 p.m. against Rock River ( Rockford ) at U.S. Cellular Coliseum and the team is planning a number of events and specials prior to and during the exhibition opener.
Extreme players will be available for pictures and autographs from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Bloomington PrairieThunder hockey game Feb. 27 at U.S. Cellular Coliseum. Extreme season ticket-holders also will have the opportunity to pick up tickets at the hockey game.
During the Extreme game against Rock River , fans will be treated to free hot dogs and popcorn, compliments of the Extreme football team and U.S. Cellular Coliseum.
It also has been labeled as a "guarantee victory game" by Extreme officials. So, when the Extreme wins all fans in attendance will receive free Big Macs at McDonald's the day after the game.

Fans who have already purchased season tickets, can pick them up at the Coliseum box office between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
