RiverCity Rage Make Change At Head Coach

RiverCity Rage News Release

St. Charles, MO - The RiverCity Rage Professional Indoor Football Team has announced they have promoted Defensive Coordinator, Ken Stills, to the position of Head Coach. The move was necessitated by the departure of Eric Van Tassel due to family reasons. Van Tassel had to return to his home in San Diego, CA immediately.

"It is unfortunate that Eric had to step down," said Jeff Sprowls, Rage Owner. "However, it is a blessing that we had someone of Ken Stills' caliber to step up and take the role of Head Coach. Not only was Ken a great player but he also has a great coaching history. He was on the Frankfort Galaxy staff that won two NFL Europe championships in his five seasons there. I look forward to a successful, championship season with Ken Stills at the helm. Our fans should expect nothing less than that, as well, from this year's team."

A seven-year veteran of the NFL, Stills was named as Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator in November of last year. He will continue to handle the defensive play calling this season in addition to fulfilling his head coaching duties.

Stills, a University of Wisconsin graduate, was a starting defensive back for both the Green Bay Packers (1985-89) and the Minnesota Vikings (1990-91). He has 11 years of coaching experience through high school, college, and professional football. Most recently, Stills was the Defensive Backs Coach at East Stroudsburg (PA) University. He held the same position for five seasons with the two-time World Bowl Champion Frankfort Galaxy of NFL Europe.

The Rage will take the field for the first time in 2008 with a preseason game against the Missouri Wildcats on Sunday, March 2nd at 3:00. As all Rage home games, the contest will be at the Family Arena in St. Charles. The Rage open their regular season Sunday, March 9th as they host the Colorado Ice at 3:00. For ticketing information contact the Rage ticket office at (636) 896-4285.
