Bloomington Extreme News Release
BLOOMINGTON (Ill.) - The Bloomington Extreme Indoor Football Team announces the signings of three players to their 2011 roster. Running Back, James Noble and Defensive Backs Marcus Winn and Jeff Franklin, have signed on to play for the 2011 Bloomington Extreme.
James Noble, 5'6" 190 lbs. Running Back from Cal Poly State University in Pomona, CA, will join the Extreme in 2011. As a high school senior at Barstow High in Barstow, CA, Noble rushed for 2,616 yards and 28 TD's. While at Cal Poly State, Noble compiled 3,690 rushing yards and 38 touchdowns, including a season in which he was named Great West Co-Offensive player of the year, rushing for 1,578 yards and 16 TDs in 10 games. That season included 8-100 yard rushing games and 2-200 yard rushing games amassing a per game average of 157.8 yards a game, good for 4th amongst bowl sub division schools.
Jeff Franklin, 5'10" 190 lbs. Cornerback played last season for Cincinnati of the CIFL, where he was named to the 2010 CIFL All-Defensive 1st team after a season in which he played 10 games. Franklin registered 35 tackles (2 for loss), 9 interceptions (1 returned for a touchdown), 8 pass break ups, 17 passes defended, and 1 forced fumble while helping his team win the league championship. Franklin attended Central State University in Wilberforce, OH, where he was a 4 year starter and a 3 year defensive captain. He was named to the Great Lakes Football Conference 1st Team defense and led nation in interceptions as a senior (Division II). Franklin is originally from Chicago, IL where he attended Chicago Hubbard High School playing quarterback and defensive back.Marcus Wynn, 6'1" 215 lbs. Safety from Mendenhall, MS attended Alabama State. While at Alabama State, Wynn played in 23 games over a two year period, registering 165 tackles, 14 sacks, and 3 interceptions. Wynn has spent the past 4 ½ seasons playing in the Canadian Football League for the Edmonton Eskimos and Winnipeg Blue Bombers as a strong safety, outside linebacker, and nickel cornerback, making 8 starts, while playing in 29 games.
"All three of these young men we've added to our roster possess speed and athleticism" states Head Coach Mike Murray. "James Noble is a shifty and quick running back with a low center of gravity. He's tough to pick up and has a lot of shake and bake to his game." Murray continues, "Jeff Franklin has been a top performer at every level he has played. He has a nose for the ball and is a game changing playmaker. Marcus Wynn adds toughness and versatility to our secondary. Marcus' experience in the Canadian Football League as a linebacker and defensive back will help to enable us to mix up our defensive alignments."
The Bloomington Extreme will open training camp Sunday, February 13, 2011 and kick off the season two weeks later, Sunday, February 27, 2011 at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum against the Richmond Revolution with a 3:05 pm start time.
