Round Rock Express News Release

ROUND ROCK - Nearly two years to the day since he tossed the first perfect game in The Dell Diamond's history, Manny Parra was up to his old tricks Friday.

Parra, who struck out 11 Express hitters in his flawless victory on June 25, 2007, allowed just two hits over seven innings and kept Round Rock tangled up long enough to give Nashville a 3-1 win in front of a season-high 12,160 fans.

Nashville (46-36) has now taken two three-game series from the Express (37-44) this season.

Continuing to distance himself from the Tommy John surgery that forced him to miss all of the 2008 season, left-hander Mark McLemore allowed two runs on five hits, four walks and five strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings in the loss.

McLemore has allowed just eight runs over his last 31 2/3 innings (2.27 ERA).

He allowed one hit in each of the first two innings before Nashville made it 1-0 in the third. Alcides Escobar drilled a double to left-centerfield and Hernan Iribarren doubled him home.

Parra meanwhile continued to dispatch the Express line-up, retiring 10 straight over the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh innings. Round Rock managed just two hits - a first-inning single from Tommy Manzella and a second-inning single from Edwin Maysonet -before reliever Dave Johnson took over to start the eighth.

Johnson picked up two quick outs before Jason Smith roped a pinch-hit double to right field. Brian Bogusevic followed with an RBI-single, making it 2-1, but Nashville stole the run right back when Joe Koshansky lifted a pinch-hit, solo homer off reliever Casey Daigle in the top of the ninth.

Former Express reliever Ryan Houston retired the side for the Sounds in the ninth.

Round Rock takes to the road Saturday, heading to Memphis for a four-game series before hopping over to Nashville for a five-game set before the All-Star Break.
