Express splits doubleheader in Midland

The Round Rock Express scored two late runs to win the second half of a doubleheader with the Midland RockHounds, 4-3. Midland scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth to win game one, 6-5.
Down 3-2, Greg Powell came in the the fourth inning and pitched his best ball of the year. Powell (1-4) went four scoreless innings to close out the seven-inning game and win his first game of the year in relief of starter James Lira.
That gave the Express offense the chance to get in action. Anthony Acevedo had an RBI triple and an error by Midland's Michael Rouse allowed a run to score to help Round Rock get the split.
Game one saw RBI hits from five different players in the bottom of the sixth to give the RockHounds the win. The inning spoiled a solid outing from Mike Burns, who had allowed only one run before the fatal sixth.
The two teams will meet again tomorrow at 2 p.m.
