Round Rock Express News Release
ROUND ROCK, Texas - Scoring two runs in the top of the seventh, the Nashville Sounds defeated the Round Rock Express 3-1 in Thursday night's Pacific Coast League action at The Dell Diamond. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for the Express (10-17), but they still won the series 3-1 over the Sounds (10-17).
Jonathan Lucroy's solo homer and Erick Almonte's pinch-hit RBI single in the seventh gave Nashville the winning runs as the Express' lone run came in the bottom half of the inning. Adam Stern's solo homer in the first started the scoring for Nashville.
Nashville starter Kameron Loe (4-1) picked up the win, tossing 6.0 innings allowing only one hit while striking out four with three walks. Mitch Stetter allowed one run in 1.2 innings, giving up two hits with three strikeouts. Chris Smith earned the save (11), throwing the final 1.1 innings allowing one hit with three strikeouts.
Round Rock starter Roy Corcoran (0-5) took the loss, allowing one run in 5.0 innings. He struck out two with two walks. It was the first start of the year for Corcoran, who was inserted into the rotation after Thursday's scheduled starter - Gustavo Chacin - was called up to the Astros earlier this week. It also was Corcoran's fourth start in 331 career Minor League appearances.
Jonah Bayliss threw a scoreless frame in the sixth, striking out two. T.J. Burton allowed two runs in the seventh on three hits while walking one. Sammy Gervacio threw two perfect innings to finish the game, striking out three with two walks.
Drew Locke had a two-out single in the seventh and scored when Drew Meyer followed him in on a triple. Express batters tied a season-low with four hits.
Round Rock continues its eight-game home stand Friday, opening a four-game series against the Memphis Redbirds. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CDT at The Dell Diamond. The Express send left-hander Andy Van Hekken (1-2, 2.93), opposed by the Redbirds' right-hander Lance Lynn (0-2, 4.56).
