Explosion Announce Roster Changes before Home Opener
April 17, 2009 - International Basketball League (IBL)
Snohomish County Explosion News Release
General Manager Sean Keck announced today that Brad Kanis the 7-2 center from Southern Utah has been given his release from the team and will not be in the lineup for the season opener against Seattle.
"Brad was unable to develop and play at the level that a starting center is expected to be at for my team to be successful" said head coach Chris Weakley, "The team needs someone that can understand the basic plays and keep the ball off the ground so that we reduce turnovers at the center position." My staff tried to help him develop but we could see this was not going to work and would require more time then we had this season to devote to this position. With players at the talent level of Jeffery Day and Chris Ford we decided that we needed to make a move to get them more minutes so this was addition by subtraction."
Sean Keck is happy to announce that freeing up this spot gives a chance to bring back a player that has been on the fringe of being on the roster all preseason. This player is a familiar face to all as it is the 2008 backup guard Mike Boyle, who played on the Explosion last season, as he has been working very hard to regain a spot on the active roster.
