Peterborough Petes News Release
(Peterborough, ON) - The Peterborough Petes 15th annual Pink in the Rink game is set for Saturday, February 4, 2024 when the Petes host the Niagara IceDogs at the PMC.
This year, the team will be wearing special theme jerseys designed by Kyle McDonald of Pioneer Inc. The jerseys highlight the names of nearly 200 people who have battled cancer. The jerseys will also feature a special Canadian Cancer Society shoulder crest. Fans can get a first look at the jerseys by clicking the attached graphic.
The official game jerseys are available for purchase at the Pink in the Rink live post-game auction, presented by Rusland's Auctions. To take part in the auction, fans are asked to move to the Gibson's Finest Club Section immediately following the game. A game ticket is required to take part in the game-worn jersey auction.
This season, funds from the Pink in the Rink campaign will support the Wheels of Hope transportation program provided by the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS). This program connects people to cancer treatments with volunteer drivers and travel cost reimbursements. It links those in need with a network of volunteers who extend their hearts and vehicles to those embarking on the toughest journey of their lives. For those who need to travel on their own, it's the assurance that some of their travel costs may be alleviated and that they have a safe, comfortable and reliable ride to and from treatment.
This year, all Petes players and coaches will act as ambassadors for the campaign. Family, friends, and fans can donate on behalf of a particular player or coachand choosing their name from the dropdown menu on the CCS fundraising website.
Fans can also support the campaign through an in-person silent auction in the North Lobby on game night, a special chuck-a-puck at the second intermission, or by purchasing an Official 15th Annual Pink in the Rink t-shirt and/or Anniversary Pin.
Bobcaygeon Brewing Co. has produced a limited edition run of Petes Lager featuring a Pink Can. 25 cents from each can sold will be donated to the Pink in the Rink campaign. The 2024 campaign is also being generously supported by Bobcaygeon Brewing Co., The Pyle Group and J. Bower Roofing.
After raising a total of $954,136 over the past 14 years, the Petes announced that this year's fundraising goal is $50,000. If achieved, the Petes and the Peterborough community will hit $1,000,000 raised in the fight against cancer in Pink in the Rink's history.
Tickets for the 15th Annual Pink in the Rink game are sold-out. Fans can keep an eye on the Petes social media accounts for information regarding if any last minute releases become available.
