Tri-City Dust Devils News Release

The Tri-City Dust Devils set a single season attendance record for the third season in a row Thursday night as 3,041 fans watched the Dust Devils fall to the Yakima Bears 9-6. While the fans at Gesa Stadium were hoping to end the regular season on a high note, they will have two more opportunities to see the Dust Devils in action as they will host the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes in the first two games of the Northwest League Championship Series next Monday and Tuesday.

For the third night in a row the Dust Devils found themselves with an early deficit, and again were able to bounce back and take the lead. This time, however, the normally reliable Tri-City bullpen was unable to maintain a narrow advantage, as a 6-5 fifth inning lead evaporated thanks to two Yakima runs in the sixth and one each in the eighth and ninth.

Bo Bowman, Kent Matthes, and Dallas Tarleton each had two hits for Tri-City, with Matthes hitting his fourth home run of the season. Tim Sherlock hit a home run for Yakima.

Erik Stavert (0-1) took the loss for Tri-City after giving up three runs in three innings of relief. Houston Summers (3-1) earned the win for Yakima in relief.

The total attendance for the year at Gesa Stadium was 84,198, or 2,216 per game, which is a 3% increase over last year's record.

The Dust Devils will finish off the regular season at Boise over the next three days and will return for Game One against Salem-Keizer on Monday.
