Yakima Bears News Release

SPOKANE, Wash. - Adonys Canelo collected his first three hits as a Bear but it wasn't enough as the Spokane Indians (36-38) shutout Yakima (27-47) 3-0 in front of 4,919 fans at Avista Stadium Friday night.

The Indians scored their first two runs in the second and fourth innings, capitalizing on a leadoff double in each instance. Spokane then tallied an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth on a Tomas Telis solo home run off the foul pole in right field off Bears' reliever Will Harvil.

Yakima's best opportunity came in the top of the fifth inning, they had the tying run in scoring position with one out but Indians' starter Braden Tullis struck out Roidany Aguila and Tyrell Worthington to get out of the inning unscathed.

Canelo finished the night 3-for-4 with a double. Matt Helm also posted a multi-hit night, going 2-for-3 with a walk.

Worthington made a full-extension diving catch on a line drive to rob Billy O'Conner of an extra-base hit in the second inning. Through ten games played against each other, each club has now won five.

They'll be back at it again Saturday night at 6:35 with Dan Taylor (4-1, 3.53 ERA) starting for Yakima against Ben Henry (2-4, 6.60 ERA) for Spokane.

All 76 games can be heard on KUTI 1460 AM and are also available streaming via the internet at www.yakimabears.com. Yakima Bears single-game tickets, season tickets and seven new mini plans are on sale now at the new downtown Bears office at 17 N. 3rd Street, Suite 101 and online at yakimabears.com.
