EVERETT, WASH. - A combination of good pitching and a three-run seventh inning gave the Everett AquaSox a 4-1 victory over the Boise Hawks Thursday night. Everett's record climbs to 30-29 as they continue to lead the West Division of the Northwest League. The Hawks continue to lead the Eastern Division at 32-18.
Everett's Troy Cate pitched seven sterling innings, allowing just one unearned run while scattering five hits, walking none and striking out nine to equal his personal best this season. Theo Heflin notched his first save of the campaign by throwing the final two innings of one hit, three strike ball.
The Frogs ripped two singles and two doubles in their three run seventh inning. Ismael Castro, T.J. Bohn and Chris Colton drove in runs in the frame. Castro went 3-for-5 in the contest.
Boise designated hitter Kevin Collins went 2-for-4.
The five-game series continues Friday night at 7:05 pm at Everett Memorial Stadium, with a fireworks show scheduled after the contest.
