Everblades take 2-0 series lead on the road Thursday

The Florida Everblades won the first two games of the Southern Division finals at TECO Arena this past Friday (6-3) and Saturday (2-1) in two overtimes. Florida currently leads the best of five series 2 games to 0 and will play Game #3 of the series on Thursday night in Charleston, SC at 7:05 PM. If necessary, Game #4 of the series will be on Friday in Charleston, SC at 7:30 PM and Game #5 will be at TECO Arena on Sunday at 5:00 PM. The winner of the Florida/South Carolina series will meet the winner of the Northern Division Finals between the Reading Royals and the Peoria Rivermen. Reading currently holds a 1-0 series advantage and the two teams will play Game #2 tonight. Florida forward Tom Buckley is the Everblades all-time leading playoff scorer (28 pts.) and currently leads the ECHL in playoff points with 6 goals and 7 assists for 13 points. The Florida Everblades (4-1) defeated the South Carolina Stingrays (3-2) 6-3 before a crowd of 4,935 at TECO Arena on Friday night. The victory gave Florida a 1-0 series lead over South Carolina. Reggie Berg and Keith Anderson helped lead the way scoring two goals each.

Game #2 vs. South Carolina Stingrays 2-1 W (2 OT)

The Florida Everblades (5-1) defeated the South Carolina Stingrays (3-3) 2-1 in double overtime before a crowd of 5,712 at TECO Arena on Saturday night. The victory gives Florida a 2-0 series lead. In the second overtime at the 3:48 mark Florida forward Jay Legault followed up a rebound off a Damian Surma shot and wristed the puck past South Carolina netminder Kirk Daubenspeck for the victory

FIRST ROUND PLAYOFF UPDATE: In the Northern Division semi-finals, the Reading Royals defeated the top seeded Wheeling Nailers 3 games to 2 and the Peoria Rivermen downed the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies 3 games to 1. In the Central Division semi-final matchups, the Louisiana Ice Gators outlasted the Pensacola Ice Pilots 2-1 in two overtimes in Game #5 last Wednesday night to win the best of five series 3 games to 2. Pensacola netminder Brian Eklund stopped 83 of 85 Louisiana shots eclipsing an ECHL post season record for number of saves (83) in one playoff game. In the Pacific Division semi-finals, the Alaska Aces upset the Brabham Cup champion San Diego Gulls 3 games to 0 and the Idaho Steelheads snuck by former Everblades netminder Marc Magliarditi and the Las Vegas Wranglers in game five 3-0 last Wednesday night to win the series 3 games to 2.

SECOND ROUND PLAYOFF UPDATE: In the Northern Division Finals, the Reading Royals hold a 1-0 series advantage over the Peoria Rivermen. The two teams meet again tonight in Peoria. In the Central Division Finals, the Louisiana Ice Gators and the Gwinnett Gladiators are tied at one game apiece and play Game #3 on Wednesday night. In the Pacific Division Finals, the Alaska Aces and Idaho Steelheads are tied at one game apiece and play Game #3 on Tuesday night in Anchorage, Alaska.
