
Everblades Facing Elimination In Second Round Series

The Florida Everblades and Reading Royals opened their second round Kelly Cup playoff series this week in Reading. Despite securing home ice in the series, the Everblades opened on the road for the first two games of the best-of-seven American Conference semifinals. Reading took advantage of their home ice advantage winning on Wednesday (7-6) and Thursday (5-4). The series shifted to Florida for game three in Germain Arena. In a tight-checking affair the Royals again claimed a one-goal decision, 2-1.
Florida is in their second must-win situation on Tuesday night in Germain Arena. The Everblades can secure another game on home ice on Friday night if they claim victory. Tickets are on sale at the T.I.B. Bank box office at Germain Arena for Tuesday night's game at 7:30 p.m. The T.I.B. GAME NOTES: A wild game one produced a combined 13 goals between the two squads. Reading enjoyed a 4-2 lead after the first period but the Everblades responded in the second. Four straight goals by the 'Blades gave Florida a 6-4 advantage early in the final period. The Royals scored the final three goals in regulation to overcome the two-goal deficit and skate to a 7-6 win in the opening game of the series.

GAME NOTES: Despite converting three-of-three on the power-play, Florida dropped game two to the Royals 5-4 in regulation. The Royals four-goal second period gave them a two-goal lead heading to the third period. Royals forward Daniel Steiner scored two goals to close the second stanza for a 5-3 Reading advantage. Ryan Lang's goal early in the third period closed the gap to one goal, but the Everblades couldn't find the equalizer.
Saturday, April 17 vs. Reading Germain Arena 7:30PM
GAME NOTES: Ryan Cruthers goal with just under four minutes to play gave Reading its third straight one-goal victory in the series, 2-1. The Royals took a three games to nothing edge in the best-of-seven series. Marc Cavosie and the Royals scored the first goal of the game for the third consecutive game in the series to give Reading a 1-0 edge in the first. The score would remain unchanged until the 13:53 mark of the third period when Kevin Baker evened the match on a pass from Dominic Osman. Reading's rookie netminder Matt Dalton stopped 36 of 37 shots to secure the victory, while Chris Beckford-Tseu stopped 39 of 41 for the Everblades.
