Drive hauls in loads of jeans
With little time to waste, the Condors and Goodwill Industries quickly went to work preparing for a Jean Drive for Games 4 & 5 of the National Conference Quarterfinals against Victoria last week. With less than a week to advertise it, there were concerns there would be little response. Instead, just like previous drives at Condors games, the response was overwhelming. Condors fans came out in droves, dropping off hundreds pairs of jeans, 569 to be exact. This was another sign of the generosity shown all year round by supporters in Condorstown.
Saturday's Busy Day
Fans of the Condors knew all about Saturday's Game 2 matchup against the Thunder, but more than just a game occurred in Condorstown. Two separate events went on simultaneously in the morning. More than a half-a-dozen members of the Condors Front Office took part in Great American Clean-up, by picking up garbage along Ming Avenue. Cars drove by and honked and even a news crew followed around the hardest working front office in the ECHL. North and west of Ming Avenue at Liberty Park, Colonel Claw'd was helping out in his own way by getting participants of the March of Dimes geared up for their walk. As always, the Colonel was a huge hit, especially with the youngest walkers.
"The Condors are more than just about hockey," said Media & Community Relations Manager Jason Lockhart. "Whether it's on a game day or in the middle of the summer, this office is always looking to help out in the Bakersfield community. It was a great event, and we look forward to participating in many more in the near future."
