Evans, Risper Back in Black for 2005

MACON, Ga. – The Macon Knights announced the assignment of Kenton Evans, Sheddrick Risper and Derrick Lloyd today. Evans and Risper were members of the Knights 2003 American Conference Championship team, while Lloyd enters his first season in arenafootball2.

Kenton Evans (6-4, 205, Tennessee State), a quarterback, returns to the Knights after spending the 2004 season with the Birmingham Steeldogs. With the Steeldogs, Evans appeared in 11 games completing 69-of-114 passes for 1,142 yards while throwing 25 touchdowns and five interceptions. Evans, a member of the Knights 2003 American Conference Championship team, enters his fourth season in af2.

Sheddrick Risper, who resides in Macon, will return for his third season with the Knights. A wide receiver/defensive back, Risper appeared in 10 games last season hauling in 27 passes for 325 yards and four touchdowns. Risper (5-9, 156, West Georgia) also rushed for 19 yards on two carries and returned 10 kickoffs for 196 yards.

Derrick Lloyd is a rookie fullback/linebacker and recipient of the 2001 Buck Buchanan award (NCAA Division I-AA Defensive Player of the Year). As a linebacker, Lloyd (6-0, 240, James Madison) finished the 2001 season with 157 tackles, 19 tackles for a loss, 7.5 sacks and five fumble recoveries. Lloyd, a transfer from Coffeyvillle Community College, played three seasons at James Madison and finished his career there with 320 tackles ranking him 10th on the Dukes' all-time list. He was also honored as the 2001 Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year and grabbed All-Conference honors in 2001.
