New Haven County Cutters News Release
West Haven- The New Haven County Cutters announced today that 3B/OF Vinny Esposito has re-signed for the 2006 season. Esposito appeared in only 14 games last season due to season ending injury. The Middletown, NJ native is very versatile, playing 1B, 2B, 3B, LF and RF positions last season.
Vinny, was originally selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 22nd round of the 2003 draft. The 6 foot lefty played his college ball at Rutgers University in New Jersey. Last season Esposito hit .250 in 48 plate appearances, with 6 RBI's. Esposito is a career .268 hitter.
Vinny's flexibility of positions makes him a very attractive player. Being able to add a left hand hitter to the roster is very important, with a shorter distance down the right field line Yale Field is made for lefthanders.
