FC Cincinnati News Release
CINCINNATI, OH - Five-time Major League Soccer All-Star and 2005 MLS MVP, Taylor Twellman, will serve as the emcee for FC Cincinnati's Town Hall event at the Woodward Theater, Nov. 29 from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m.
The town hall event is open to the general public with doors opening at 3:00 p.m. FCC supporters will be invited to meet and submit questions to Major League Soccer Commissioner Don Garber. In addition to the town hall, Garber will be given a tour of the city and will meet with FCC majority owner Carl Lindner III and Mayor John Cranley in addition to other civic and political leaders.
"The support in Cincinnati, from the outside looking in, has been one of the more remarkable stories in the sport of soccer in recent years. From their ownership group to their technical staff and more importantly to their fans, FC Cincinnati has been 100% committed to providing a quality product for which the fans can identify with. I can't tell you how excited I am to meet everyone and more importantly to see first-hand what this city and club are all about."
Twellman is ESPN's lead analyst for MLS and U.S. National Team matches. He spent eight seasons with the New England Revolution, scoring 101 goals in 174 matches before ending his career.
He was the second selection overall by the Revolution in 2002 and had a three-year tenure with 1860 Munich of the Bundesliga. In 2002 he tallied 23 goals, was an MLS Most Valuable Player finalist and voted to the MLS Best XI. He claimed the MVP title three years later after putting away 17 goals in 2005 en route to earning a second spot on the MLS Best XI.
In addition to working with ESPN, Twellman has dedicated himself to raising awareness about the dangers of concussions and head injuries, particularly in soccer. He provides athletes and their families with relevant information and support for incidents of sports-related concussion through the THINKTAYLOR Foundation and has become a sought-after speaker and facilitator at conferences and seminars, focusing on increased awareness among youth players.
