Real Salt Lake News Release
SALT LAKE CITY (Friday, August 29, 2008) - Real Salt Lake (8-8-6, 30 pts.) halted a two-game losing streak and kept its season-long home undefeated streak intact with an impressive 2-0 victory over the archrival Colorado Rapids (7-12-3, 24 pts.) this evening in front of 15,257 fans at Rice-Eccles Stadium. FW Fabian EspÃndola marked his return to the RSL starting line-up with a pair of goals, while MF Javier Morales notched his ninth and tenth assists of the season on the tallies by his Argentine countryman. The three points - which moves RSL's unblemished record at home to 7-0-5 on the season - keeps the Utah side firmly in second place in the Western Conference standings heading into the rest of the weekend's MLS action and back to within two points of the first-place Houston Dynamo (8-5-8, 32 pts.), who takes on the Chicago Fire on Sunday evening.

RSL Match Notes
Despite missing 10 or RSL's 22 League contests due to injury, Espindola's brace this evening tied him for the RSL lead in goals with his fourth and fifth of the campaign, drawing him even with the defending RSL Golden Boot winner, FW Robbie Findley. Morales' pair of assists put him all alone in second place on the League's helper chart, but he still stands four assist behind MLS leader and fellow argentine playmaker Guillermo Barros Schelotto of the Columbus Crew. MF Will Johnson made his return to MLS and his Real Salt Lake debut in coach Jason Kreis' starting XI, playing a gritty 90 minutes in the RSL midfield. GK Nick Rimando had a relatively quiet evening en route to posting his 80th career win and 51st career clean sheet, making a pair of saves on the night to help RSL to its eighth shutout of the campaign.
