
Escalona gets the call, wins ML debut

Reading, PA - The Philadelphia Phillies have recalled Reading lefty Sergio Escalona. He will be with the big club for Sunday's game in Washington.
Escalona extended his personal scoreless innings streak to 9 1/3 innings after tossing a perfect ninth inning on Friday.
The last run allowed by the 24-year-old was on April 25 against Bowie.
He has allowed just five hits over that span while striking out 10 and walking three and has lowered his ERA from 4.50 to 2.08.
Escalona is tied for second in the EL with the 10 saves.
The Venezuelan becomes the 14th player to be recalled from Reading to Philadelphia since 2005. Eleven of the 14 recalls, including Escalona, had no prior experience in the Majors or at Triple-A*. The 14 players are: Lou Marson*, Andrew Carpenter*, Brad Harman*, Greg Golson*, Fabio Castro, Chris Coste, Kyle Kendrick*, Mike Zagurski*, Zack Segovia*, Joe Bisenius*, Scott Mathieson*, Tim Gradoville* and Danny Sandoval.
