Errors Lead to Loss

The Amsterdam Mohawks pounded out 14 hits and took advantage of numerous Glens Falls fielding miscues to beat the Dragons 13-8 at East Field Sunday. The Mohawks jumped out to a 11-2 lead and fought off a Glens Falls comeback attempt to gain the victory.

The game was tied 1-1 after an inning of play, but the Mohawks scored two runs in the third and three in the fourth to lead 6-1.

Glens Falls got a run back in the sixth, but Amsterdam responded with five in the eighth to lead 11-2.

Glens Falls plated four runs in the seventh and two in the ninth to pull close, but it was too little too late.

Austin Keen (Kentucky) (1-1) got the win on mound for Amsterdam. Keen gave up two runs on four hits in 5 and 1/3 innings of work. He struck out seven and walked one.

Andrew Knuessle (0-2) took the loss for Glens Falls.

Chris Givin (Xavier) was 4 or 5 at the plate for the Mohawks with a pair of doubles.. Tyler Frank (Florida Atlantic) had three hits for Amsterdam. Andrew Rouse (Marist) and Dan Maynard (Maryland) had a pair of safeties for the Mohawks. Nick Patten (Delaware) tripled.

Nate Cardy (Gannon) had two hits for Glens Falls. Alex Chandler (St. Rose) blasted a two run homer for the Dragons, while Robbie Knightes (St. Johns) added a pair of RBIs.

Amsterdam is now 9-6 on the season. Glens Falls drops to 2-13.
