Erie Otters News Release
Erie, Pennsylvania - The synchronicity between beer and the sport of hockey has been one that has stood for decades. Today marks a new chapter of the harmonious relationship between the two, right here in Erie.
The Erie Otters and award-winning local independent brewery Lavery Brewing Company are proud to announce their first collaboration beer, YOU OTTER BEER HERE. The unveiling of the beer comes as the tangible culmination of the partnership that Lavery Brewing and the Otters underwent to start the season.
Lavery Brewing Company is owned-and-operated by Erie's Jason Lavery, and has been brewing award-winning beers in downtown Erie for 13 years.
"It's fun to have a sports organization in our hometown that's willing to have fun and make a beer that we can play around with the name, the logo, and the mascot." said Lavery, "The beer is delicious, it was really fun to brew it with Otto, and I think people will be really excited to drink it."
A crisp, clean, and light without much hop bitterness, YOU OTTER BEER HERE is a Helles-style Lager brewed and canned in the heart of downtown Erie as a love letter to Otters fans and the Erie community. As part of Lavery Brewing's pride in Erie, the company's beers are available exclusively in Erie County.
"The more we stick together and these collaborations come to fruition, that leads the way for the future of Erie, and to show how much fun organizations and businesses can have together. This kind of collaboration is kind of like a beacon. Something really fun to do and I'm really proud to be part of it." said Lavery, "Support your local sports franchise, support your local brewery, support your community. We're two organizations that are trying to make Erie a better place and have fun while we're doing it."
YOU OTTER BEER HERE will officially be released at 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 4 at Lavery Brewing Company as a lead-in to the Erie Otters highly-anticipated final home game against the rival London Knights. As part of the celebration of the beer's release, Otters' vice president of business operations Chad Westerburg, media relations manager Shawn Bednard, and mascot Otto will be in attendance at the brewery to meet fans.
"The Otters are thrilled to work alongside a local brewery for the creation of our official beer, YOU OTTER BEER HERE. The team at Lavery Brewing Company have been highly-regarded and award-winning for years, and have taken great pride in the creation of this beer." said Westerburg, "Otters fans will love the lager as much as they love our team, and we're excited to finally bring it to the Erie community."
A special edition of the Otters' Pregame the Pregame Show will take place at 4:30 P.M. live at Lavery Brewing Company. Fans unable to attend will be able to watch on the team's Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube pages.
YOU OTTER BEER HERE will be available exclusively at Lavery Brewing Company for the near future, while supplies last. The Erie Otters remind fans to please enjoy responsibly.
