Erie Otters News Release
Owen Sound, ON - The Erie Otters have their four game winning streak snapped at the hands of Brandon Hope and the Owen Sound Attack, as the Attack held on to a 2-1 lead to beat the Otters Saturday night.
Erie fired everything they had at Owen Sound goaltender Brandon Hope, but the keeper was stellar throughout the game stopping the Otters top guns. Hope made 50 saves on the night to take the game Saturday night in Owen Sound.
Erie fired 21 shots at Hope in the first period, but were unable to get one past the goal keeper. Hope dazzled the Owen Sound crowd stopping Dane Fox and Andre Burakovsky multiple times in the frame. Thomas Schemitsch was able to sneak the puck by Otters goalie Oscar Dansk with 23 seconds left in the first period to give the Attack a 1-0.
Dane Fox tied the game in the second period on the power play. Fox's 53 goal of the season tied Cory Pecker's franchise record for goals scored in a season. The tie game wouldn't last too long as Holden Cook gave Owen Sound the lead again just 1:23 after Fox tied the score.
With a 2-1 lead into the third period, Owen Sound was set to hold on to the two points in front of their home crowd. Hope made another 19 saves in the third period to hold the one goal lead, and send his team off to their second victory over the Otters this season.
The Erie Otters head home for their next game against the Saginaw Spirit Thursday night at the Erie Insurance Arena at 7 p.m.
