Erie BayHawks News Release
Erie, Pennsylvania, December 3 - The Erie BayHawks faced an Iowa Energy team missing two starters, 114-108 at Erie Insurance Arena this evening. Iowa was without Cartier Martin and Perry Jones III.
The first quarter started with the teams trading buckets until Devyn Marble knocked down a 16-foot jumper for his first BayHawks points in the '15-'16 season. The Orlando Magic assigned Marble to the BayHawks on Monday. The Energy responded but were silenced a minute and half later by a Melvin Ejim three-pointer to put the BayHawks up 22-13. The BayHawks had their best play of the evening moments later when Marble stole the ball and made a full court pass to Tyler Harvey who lobbed the ball to Ejim for a dunk. Marble capped off the quarter by knocking down a three with 2 seconds left putting the BayHawks ahead 34-24.
The BayHawks had even play in the second quarter, using buckets from almost the entire active roster. Lazeric Jones of the Energy led all scorers with 16 at the half. Wright followed closely behind with 13 points and 8 rebounds. The BayHawks jumped out to a 19-point lead and their biggest of the game when Alex Davis put in an easy layup midway through the third quarter. The Energy responded with an 11-0 run behind eight consecutive points from reserve guard Terrence Oglesby. The Energy briefly took the lead in the fourth but were unable to overcome a clutch baseline three from Jordan Sibert with 1:13 left in the game followed by a Keith Appling three with only two seconds remaining in the shot clock.
Jones finished the game with 27 points for the Energy. Joel Wright had 25 points, 13 rebounds, and 5 assists. Ejim finished the game with 25 points and seven rebounds for the BayHawks. Appling had 18 points and seven assists. Egwu had 17 points and eight rebounds while Sibert finished with 13 points.
The BayHawks are on the road this weekend with a double-header against the Maine Red Claws. They return home December 12 against the Texas Legends. Tickets are available at eriebayhawks.com.
