
Eric Taylor Holds Workout With Winnipeg Blue Bombers of CFL

ODESSA, TX. : The Odessa Roughnecks announced on Monday afternoon, August 24, 2009 that former wide out, Eric Taylor, recently held a workout with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League on Friday, August 21. Taylor will await a decision from the Blue Bombers organization in regards to being signed to the team. The Blue Bombers currently hold a 5-5 record with their next game coming up on Sunday, September 6, 2009 at Saskatchewan, kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
"From what I understand, Eric's workout went very well and now he is waiting for a decision from the team. Eric is a talented wide receiver and we wish him all the best." stated Odessa Roughnecks Head Coach, Chris Williams.
Taylor had a great first season with the Odessa Roughnecks in 2009 compiling 56 receptions for 754 yards receiving and leading the team with 14 touchdown receptions. Taylor was second on the team with 368 kick return yards and second with 1,168 all-purpose yards. Taylor (5'10", 180 lbs.) was named Offensive Player of the Week in Week Ten of the IFL regular season after leading the Roughnecks with eight receptions for 125 yards and three touchdowns in the Roughnecks win over San Angelo (47-43) back on May 16, 2009.
ARMSTRONG PROGRESSES IN PRESEASON WITH DOLPHINS -
Former Roughnecks wide out, Anthony Armstrong, is back with the Miami Dolphins for a second season after spending the 2008 season on the Dolphins Practice Squad. Armstrong saw action in the Dolphins most recent preseason game versus the Carolina Panthers back on Saturday, August 22. Armstrong returned one kickoff for 20 yards and was targeted a few times during passing plays in the second half. Armstrong re-signed with the Dolphins on January 14, 2009 and he spent the 2007 and 2008 seasons with the Dallas Desperados of the AFL. In '08, Armstrong caught 83 passes for 1,148 yards and ten touchdowns for the Desperados. The West Texas A&M stand-out played in 13 games for the Roughnecks in 2006 when the Roughnecks were part of the Intense Football League. Armstrong was a pivotal member of the '06 Roughnecks Championship squad collecting 55 receptions for 760 yards and 18 touchdowns.
Additionally, former Roughnecks offensive linemen, Peter Fields, is scheduled to have his workout with the Green Bay Packers on Saturday, August 29, 2009.
