SportsQuest Announces IFL Team Name
August 24, 2009 - Indoor Football League (IFL) News Release
RICHMOND, VA.: SportsQuest announced today the final results of the fan balloting for their "Name the Team" Contest. The results were tallied from ballots submitted by local residents at any of the 7 area Buffalo Wild Wings locations. The ballots could be found in the past two issues of Style Weekly.
After counting through hundreds of ballots it was found that the most popular name among the public was the Richmond Revolution. One lucky fan selected from all of the ballots submitted will win a lifetime season ticket award with the Revolution. The Revolution will begin play in their inaugural season on April 3rd, 2010 at the Arthur Ashe Center in downtown Richmond.
Season Tickets for the Revolution are currently on sale at the SportsQuest corporate offices. The first 300 season tickets purchased will receive a Revolution jersey as well as other benefits including priority seating in the new arena on SportsQuest's campus in 2011. "The number of ballots we received was overwhelming and we appreciate the response from the Richmond area. We were excited to see that the public chose Revolution as the team name because of all of the local history regarding the American Revolution." stated SportsQuest Vice President of Professional Sports Operations and Assistant General Manager, Charlie Hildbold.
SportsQuest, a multi-level organization, signed a letter of intent in June to become the newest member of the Indoor Football League. SportsQuest will break ground in the fourth quarter of 2009 on a 250 acre multi-purpose, multi-sports campus in the Chesterfield area of Virginia. The campus is designed to host athletics of all skill levels, from recreational to Olympic training. Among their plans is the creation of a 5,000 seat arena that will house hockey, basketball, and indoor football. The arena will be up and running by 2011, but the expansion IFL franchise will begin play during the 2010 season in the Arthur Ashe Center.
