Eric Taylor and Arthur Harris Named IFL Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week

ODESSA, TX. : The Indoor Football League announced on Wednesday, May 20 that WR Eric Taylor and LB Arthur Harris have been selected as Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week for Week 10 of the IFL. It is the first time this season that any Roughnecks player has been selected as player of the week and it is the second week in a row in which players from the same team have taken home Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week awards in the Indoor Football League.
WR Eric Taylor (5'10", 180 lbs.) Concordia (AL) -
Eric Taylor was the difference maker on offense in the Roughnecks win over the San Angelo Stampede Express, 47-43, back on Saturday, May 16. Taylor led all Roughnecks receivers with eight receptions for 125 yards and three touchdowns. Taylor caught his first touchdown reception in the first quarter of the ball game on a 20-yard touchdown pass from QB Dennis Gile. His second came in the second quarter from 19-yards out and perhaps his most important touchdown reception came in the third quarter on a 39-yard pass that increased Odessa's lead at 40-29.
In seven games played in 2009, Eric Taylor ranks second among all Roughnecks receivers with 30 receptions for 418 yards. Taylor leads all Roughnecks wide outs with 10 touchdown receptions and he ranks fourth in total rushing yards with 50 including two rushing touchdowns.

Arthur Harris led all Odessa defensive players with 11.5 total tackles (9 solo, 5 Ast.) in the win over San Angelo on May 16. Harris also recorded 0.5 tackle for loss and his first interception of the season after picking off QB Sonny Cumbie late in the third quarter. In seven games played this season, Harris leads the Roughnecks in total tackles with 31.0 including 2.5 tackles for loss. Harris has registered one sack this season along with one pass breakup and one fumble recovery.
