Everett Silvertips News Release

EVERETT, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips have officially named defenseman Eric Jamieson as an alternate captain for the remainder of the 2023-24 campaign.

Jamieson, an '05-born Calgary, AB native, is taking part in his third Western Hockey League season. He currently has six goals and 11 assists with a +17 defensive rating through 39 games played. Originally selected 195th-overall in the ninth round of the 2020 WHL Draft out of Edge Prep, the 6-foot-3, 204-pound blueliner has developed into one of the more sure-handed and physical players on the Silvertips' roster.

"I think anyone who knows Eric knows his approach to the game," noted general manager/head coach Dennis Williams. "How committed he is, how honest he plays, how detailed he is. He's an unbelievable teammate on the ice, and that's only half of it. When you get to know him off the ice and his commitment to being a pro, his mentoring of younger players, it speaks volumes about him. To us, it was an easy decision to add him to our leadership group."

Williams highlighted Jamieson's ability to relate to players and integrate them into life in the WHL and in North America as a particular strong point, as he has lived with both Finnish import Julius Miettinen this season and Swiss import Tim Metzger in 2022-23.

Jamieson's growth as a defender has started to attract the attention of NHL scouts, having attended Seattle Kraken development camp and training camp over the summer.

He joins fellow defender Kaden Hammell as an alternate captain under co-captains Ben Hemmerling and Austin Roest.
