Elmira Enforcers News Release

The Dashers and Enforcers met for the second time in as many nights at First Arena as both sides looked to make some corrections from Friday night's game and Robbie Nichols sought out career coaching win number 330.

The first period picked up right where last night left off as the Enforcers came out strong in the first earning the first four shots on goal. The game proceeded to see a few penalties called as special teams played a huge part in the first period. The first goal finally came at 11:47 of the first as Marko Novosel chased down a puck that goaltender Matt Kaludis had come out to play picked it off his stick and shoved it into the empty net for the first goal of the night. 4:21 later Tyler Prendergast scored a goal on a rebound that found him in the slot off a Brandon Vuic shot. Finally, on a power play of their own the Enforcers cashed in as Sean Reynolds fired a shot by Kaludis to give the Enforcers a 3-0 lead. The period ended with a 12-8 shot discrepancy in favor of the Elmira Enforcers.

The Enforcers kept up the pressure in the second as Ahmed Mahfouz tallied for a point in his 25thgame in a row to put the Enforcers up 4-0. After that the game reflected last night as things got chippy as a number of scraps broke out and penalties were called to both sides. Danville finally solved Niedert 12:46 into the second frame to close the gap to 4-1. At the end of two the Dashers led in shots with a slim 21-20 advantage.

The third period started with Fred Hein pulling the Dashers back to within two as he was able to chop one out of midair past Niedert. However, just 1:57 later Ahmed Mahfouz scored his second of the night to put the Enforcers back up by three. Then the fisticuffs eruped again as Fred Hein and Brandon Vuic got into it, followed by Glen Patterson and Daniel Martin. After serving his major Patterson got right back to work with 17:17 to go and buried one by Kaludis to put the Enforcers back up by four, 6-2. This was enough to pull Niedert and give Hannah Cochran a couple minutes of playing time as the first female goaltender in Enforcers history. She blocked two shots and ensured the victory for Elmira, as Robbie Nichols claimed coaching victory 330.

These two teams do battle one more time tomorrow afternoon at 4:05 pm as the Enforcers look to secure the weekend series sweep. There will be a postgame skate with the Enforcers. Tickets are available by calling 607-734-PUCK.
