Elmira Enforcers News Release
Danville, IL - After dropping their first game of the season 3-2 in overtime to the Danville Dashers, the Elmira Enforcers looked to come out strong and bring their record back to .500 before continuing their road-trip.
The Dashers came out strong early in the 1st Period with Liam Little scoring his first goal of the season and the team's first goal of the night. Danville would continue their strong offensive startwith Ryan Marker hitting the back of the net just a few minutes later. Later on in the period Daniel Martin would go on a break-away down the ice and was slashed in his motion of shooting, allowing him the opportunity to bury a penalty shot, putting the Dashers up 3-0. Already up big in the 1st Period, Danville wasn't done just yet, with three seconds left Steven Gaul was able to poke the puck in the net putting the Dashers up 4-0 at the end of the period.
The first half of the 2nd period started very slow for both teams with them splitting time in the offensive zone. Halfway through the period action began to pick up though, with Danville's Brausen scoring his first goal of the season after spending 8 minutes in the penalty box in just two periods of play, putting the Dashers up 5-0. After allowing 5 goals in just a period and a half of play the Enforcers made a switch in goal, removing their starting goalie Troy Passingham, allowing back-up Derek Moser his first opportunity of the season. Just moments after Moser entered the game he was tested and allowed Stephen Gaul to go five-hole, scoring his second goal of the night, and putting Danville up 6-0 through two periods.
The 3rd Period was much of the same with the Enforcers being on the power-play quite a bit, but unable to capitalize on the opportunities. Midway through the period the tension between these two teams finally came to a climax with Darren Lamble dropping the gloves and landing a huge right-hook to knock the Dashers player to the ice. Elmira was able to crack the scoreboard late in the 3rd Period with Martin Trudman scoring shorthanded for the Enforcers only goal of the night.
Dashers goalie Matt Kaludis was phenomenal in net on the night, allowing the Enforcers only one goal in 61 chances. Elmira will continue to look for the franchise's first win in team history next weekend, November 2nd and 3rd, when they travel to North Carolina to take on the Carolina Thunderbirds. Elmira won't play their first home game until Friday, November 16thwhen Carolina will make the trip up North.
