November 24, 2020 - Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL)
Elmira Enforcers News Release
The Elmira Enforcers of the Federal Prospects Hockey League are proud to announce they have acquired three new players through the Mentor dispersal draft. The Enforcers selected Defenseman Ramil Talipov. Forward Kodiak Whiteduck, and Forward Blake Naida.
With their first pick of the draft Elmira selected Defenseman Ramil Talipov, a 20 year old defenseman from Magnitogorsk, RUS. Talipov played 47 combined games last year after starting the season in Ogden of the WSHL, where he averaged better than a point a game, Ramil joined the Carolina Thunderbirds for 4 games scoring a goal and two assists, but was traded to Mentor in the Jiri Pestuka trade, and had one goal in two games before the season was stopped due to COVID. Before entering the FPHL Talipov was a GMHL All Star and will bring a strong defensive presence to Elmira.
Elmira's second pick in the draft was Kodiak Whiteduck, a 21 year old forward from Maniwaki, QC, Canada. Whiteduck played the majority of 2019-20 in the GMHL with the West Nipissing Lynx where he had 47 points in 39 games (23 goals, 24 assists) and echoed that in the playoffs with 5 points in 3 games (1 goal, 4 assists). After the GMHL season ended Kodiak came to Mentor for just one game before the season ended and he scored a goal in that lone game. Whiteduck earned an All Star selection and the Most Heart award in the GMHL last season.
The third round saw the Enforcers pick fourth and they chose Blake Naida, a 24 year old from Cleveland, OH. Naida played in 31 games for Mentor last season and was able to get on the scoresheet 13 times (2 goals, 11 assists) while earning 35 penalty minutes. Before landing in Mentor Blake played 4 years in the GMHL where he amassed 45 games of playoff experience and with 36 points to go along with it. Naida is a solid two way forward and won Top Defensive Forward in the GMHL in 2017.
Enforcers owner Robbie Nichols was very pleased with the draft and told media members "It is always difficult to see a team fold, especially one of our closer rivals. The city of Mentor has been a great place to play, but as we focus on the 2021 season we know we need depth to play 40+ games this year. These are players who give us that option and will hopefully be a big part of our team this coming season."
