Energy FC Signs Defender Kyle Hyland

OKLAHOMA CITY - OKC Energy FC signed defender Kyle Hyland for the 2016 season, the club's front office announced today.

Hyland comes to Energy FC from Indy Eleven, where he started in 17 of the 18 games he played. His only goal of the season was clutch against Tampa Bay, for which he was named NASL Player of the Week.

"I am very excited to play for Coach Nielson and the successful organization he has put together. I'm also looking forward to representing Oklahoma City and playing in front of such an impressive and loyal fan base," Hyland said. "This coming year with be a great experience and I cannot wait to become part of the OKC Energy."

Hyland was freshman captain at Indiana University - Purdue University Indianapolis. He started 16 of the 19 games played. By his junior year, Hyland set a record for the number of minutes played in a single season with 1,611. As a senior, he racked up eight goals, including three game-winning shots.

"Kyle is an energetic outside back who loves to get up and down the flank, which directly fits in with how we like to play," said Energy FC General Manager Jason Hawkins. "He is a hard-working player who we hope to come in and be an immediate contributor."

The addition of Kyle Hyland brings the number of players signed by Energy FC to 15. He joins Casey Townsend, Michael Byskov, Jordan Rideout, Sebastian Dalgaard, Danni Konig, Cyprian Hedrick, Peter Toth, Daniel Gonzalez, Chuy Sanchez, Coady Andrews, Kalen Ryden, and goaltenders Cody Laurendi and Ray Clark and newcomer Luis Martinez as players officially signed for the 2016 season.

Energy FC will host FC Dallas in a preseason match at historic Taft Stadium in Oklahoma City on February 27. Season Seat Holders tickets are available by contacting the Energy office at 235-KICK or visiting energyfc.com.
