Elmira Gets Past Golden Eagles
June 20, 2012 - Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL)
Glens Falls Dragons News Release
The Elmira Pioneers came away with a big save for a win versus the Glens Falls Golden Eagles tonight 12-9.
The Pioneers started off in a big way jumping out to a three run lead through two innings. The Golden Eagles replaced starting pitcher Nick Pivetta, who had a shaky start going through two inning of work, with Jordan Keysor who held Elmira at bay as long as possible.
But Elmira exploded in the fourth inning getting seven runs through the seventh inning. The Golden Eagles managed to get within three runs of the Pioneers and make the game interesting thanks to big hits generated from the bottom of the lineup.
The Golden Eagles made a break in the eighth and ninth innings trying to push during two out rallies but the early lead of Elmira proved to be too much for the team to handle. Justin Bhatti gets the win for Elmira and Pivetta takes the loss for Glens Falls.
Elmira will take on Mohawk Valley tomorrow at 7 PM while Glens Falls gets a much-needed day off.
