Bend Elks News Release
Bend, OR - Scott Kinzler pitched 4 quality innings, Seth Spivey had three hits, and the Bend Elks (4-2) capped their 6 game road trip with a 4-2 victory over the Kelowna Falcons (0-6).
Kelowna jumped out to an early 1-0 lead against Kinzler in the 1st, but that was all they would manage against the young right hander headed to Abilene Christian University in the fall. Kinzler went 4 innings, giving up only 1 run on 2 hits while striking out 7.
The Elks bats finally came alive in the top of the 5th inning against Marc-Andre Habeck, as Kyle Giusti got the Elks on the board with a double and came around to score on a throwing error.
Giusti was followed by Curtis Wildung, who hit his first home run of the year and made the score 2-1. After Wildung, Seth Spivey singled home Zach Close and Tanner Ring doubled home Spivey to make the game 4-1.
Kelowna added another run in the bottom of the 5th inning to get to the final 4-2 tally.
