Kelowna Falcons Lose Series Finale

June 11, 2013 - West Coast League (WCL)
Kelowna Falcons News Release

The Kelowna Falcons suffered a tough loss on Monday night at the hands of the Bend Elks 4-2 in the series finale.

In five of the first six games this season the Falcons have scored in their first at bat and on Monday it was no different. After Darren Kolk reached on an error, he would steal second for his fifth theft of the season putting him in scoring position for the hot hitting Chandler Tracy. Kolk would score on Tracy's third double of the season and sixth RBI.

Falcons' starter Marc Andre Habeck cruised through the first four innings giving up just three hits. However in the fifth the Elks would get to him. Kyle Giusti led off the inning with a double, but would score on two errors, which would tie the game. After Curtis Wildung homered two batters later, the Elks would score two more and four in the inning, assisted by three Falcons errors.

The Falcons would get one back in the bottom of the inning as Joe Robbins would collect his second RBI in as many nights to plate Nathan Robertson. However this would be the closest the Falcons would come.

The Elks bullpen would shut down the Falcons allowing just two hits after the fifth inning.

The Falcons fall to 0-6 and will have four days off to rest and regroup before opening a three game home stand against the newly expanded Victoria Harbourcats on Saturday night. It's the first game ever between two Canadian teams in the West Coast League at Elks Stadium. The Falcons and Cats played in Victoria to open the season last week.
