
Elks Battle Back for Win

The Bend Elks ended a 6 game losing streak Sunday evening with a 7-6 win over the visiting Victoria Harbour Cats. Victoria pitching kept the Elks from scoring until the 5th where they scored 5 runs tieing the game. Victoria took the lead in the top of the 8th with one run scored, but the Elks battled back scoring with two runs in the bottom of the inning. Lead off batter, Nick Lopez walked then scored on a Jon Brooks RBI double. Brooks moved to third off of newly arrived outfielder Jake Peeveyhous' sacrifice fly to deep right field. Zach Close then stepped in with a RBI single, sending Brooks home for the final, and winning run of the game. Louis Cohen came in in the top of the 9th to receive his 3rd save for Bend after striking out 2 0f the 4 Cat batters he faced. The Elks head out on the road Tuesday for the first game of 9 games, the longest road trip for the Elks this season. First stop for the Elks will be in Kitsap County Washington where the Elks will take on the Blue Jackets, first pitch will be at 6:35 PM. All road and home games can be heard at bendelks.com.
