Derek Dixon drove in 5 runs and scored two more for the Bend Elks, who scored in 7 of the 9 innings Wednesday night, in cruising to victory over the Kitsap BlueJackets 14-3.

The Elks bats began to heat up in the 3rd inning as Chase Fields singled off to start the inning and scored on an RBI double from Seth Spivey. After Keach Ballard drew a walk, Tyler Servais singled to load the bases and brought up Derek Dixon, who came through with a 2 run double, his first of 5 in the game, to increase the Elks lead to 4-0. Grant Newton followed with a sacrifice fly and Turner Gill had an RBI single as the Elks scored 5 in the 3rd inning to make it 6-0.

The Elks went on to score 3 in the 4th, 1 in the 5th, 2 in the 6th, and 1 in both the 7th and 8th innings in cruising to the victory. Every hitter in the Bend Elks lineup had at least one hit and 8 of the 9 hitters scored at least 1 run in the game for the Elks (10-4) who became the first team in the West Coast League in 2013 to get to 10 wins.

Clay Gartner started and got the win for the Bend Elks in the game, giving up 3 runs on 7 hits, walking 2 and striking out 1 in picking up his third win in 2013, tying Brian McAfee for the West Coast League lead. Adam Grantham and Garrett Anderson came on to pitch 2 scoreless innings to secure the victory for the Elks.

The Elks will look for the series sweep against the Kitsap Blue Jackets (4-10) Thursday as right hander Kevin Hamann takes the ball for the Elks against Spenser Watkins for the BlueJackets, first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
