Bend Elks News Release

The Bend Elks six game winning streak came to an end Thursday night as Klamath starter Nathan Bunch threw a gem, throwing eight shutout innings while striking out 11, and the Elks lost in front of over 2,700 fans on Jacoby Ellsbury Bobble head night, losing by a score of 1-0.

The only run in the game would come in the top of the fourth, Turner Gill hit a one out double, advanced to third on a groundout by Ryan Doeppel, then scored on a ground ball from Bo Cornish that was misplayed by Elks shortstop Ryan Dunn, who let it roll through his legs into shallow centerfield and letting Gill score to help the Gems avoid a sweep.

Stephen Ostapeck was the hard luck loser on the night, throwing six quality innings, giving up six hits and an unearned run on the night.

The Elks begin a three game series with the Wenatchee AppleSox on Friday, first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
