Elijah Martin Named to USL Championship Team of the Week

San Diego, Calif. - Defender Elijah Martin was named to the USL Championship Team of the Week after a standout performance in a Week 21 SD Loyal scoreless draw against Oakland Roots on Sept. 11.

Martin was an integral part of the club's defensive performance and also part of its attack through the flanks. Martin helped set up several plays that led to SD Loyal threatening the Oakland defense. He had two key passes and won nine of 12 duels while making six recoveries and three interceptions.

Martin, a speedy and physical player, has played in 22 matches and starting in 16 this season to total 1,565 minutes this far into the season. He is the ninth SD player to be named to the player of the week this season as the team heads into its Week 22 home match against Tacoma Defiance Sunday Sept. 19 at Torero Stadium at USD.
